Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is a City Jogging Tour?
It is a guided sightseeing tour that takes place on the run, jogging through the streets of London. It is guided by an experienced local runner who will provide sightseeing commentary along the route. You may choose to join us privately on one of our specially designed City Jogging Tour routes or join one of our group events (see 'Running Tours' and 'Events'). For a fully bespoke running tour, choose the 'Customised Running Tour'option or contact us to discuss your preferences and needs.
  • Do I need to be fit?
Our Running Tours and Events are suitable for all running abilities, from gentle joggers through to experienced marathon runners. We always go at your pace or the pace of the slowest person in the group, and our usual format is to make regular stops for further explanations and photos along the route. We welcome all abilities!
  • I like the look of one of the Running Tour routes but the start and/or finish location is not convenient, can the route be adapted?"
Yes, absolutely! If you're staying in close proximity to one of our suggested Running Tour routes and prefer an alternative starting location (such as your hotel) or finish location, you'll have the opportunity to let us know your preferences during the sign-up process. We will then contact you to finalise and adapt the tour route for you. Alternatively you could choose the Customised Tour option where we will design a new route especially for you based on your location and interests! If you are unsure which option may work best, please contact us to discuss your needs before booking.
  • I would like to join one of your special Events but the start time is not convenient, do you offer other start times?"
All of our special Events start at fixed times of day, however our private Running Tours are tailor made tours which start at a time convenient for you. If you would like us to create an event for your group at a convenient location and time, simply contact us and we will design a bespoke event.
  • How long do City Jogging Tours or Events last?
The time taken to complete each Running Tour or Event depends on the length of the tour/event chosen and either your pace (if choosing a private Running Tour) or the pace of your group. Faster runners may complete some of the shorter tours in under an hour, whereas slower runners and longer tours may take over 1 hr 30 minutes (but don't worry, we make regular stops along the way for photos!). There are approximate timings given in the descriptions for each tour on the online reservations page, but these are for guidance only, the exact timings will depend on your average pace (if choosing a private tour) or the pace of the group (if opting for a group running event). You will be advised of approximate timings before the start of your run.
  • How much does a City Jogging Tour or Event cost?
Private tours are individually priced according to distance and number of participants, starting from £59. Click on the Book Now link next to each tour description to find price info and you can also find a price summary on the Prices page. The prices for private tours are based on distance, though after sign-up and once we know your average running pace we may advise guests who think they'll take longer than the advertised tour duration that a suppliment of £20 per additional half hour is required, or we will advise shortening the tour if needed. This will only be changed / charged by mutual agreement and finalised in advance of your tour date. In the summer months we also offer a range of themed group running Events with special prices (usually 5-10 K distances) starting from £25 per person.
  • How do I sign-up and pay for a City Jogging Tour or Event?
To purchase tickets click the Book Now link next to each tour or event. The sign-up process is quick and easy and several different payment methods are accepted. It is not possible to automatically book private running tours or personal training/yoga/pilates/HIIT sessions with less than 48 hours notice using the automated booking system, but these sessions may still be available. Therefore, if you've just arrived in London and would like to join a running tour or event at short notice (or for any special requests) please contact us and we will advise.
  • What if I want to cancel my booking?
For private Running Tours, we offer a refund on cancellations made at least 48 hours before the start of your City Jogging Tour (minus the small booking fee). Simply call or email us within the required notice period and we will refund you using your original payment method. For Running Tours no refunds or exchanges can be given for cancellations made with less than 48 hours notice. If you are experiencing delays beyond your control (such as due to inbound air travel) please contact us as soon as possible and we will in exceptional circumstances, and at our discretion, offer you an alternative time or date where possible, though no monetary refund can be given and an alternative date/time is not guaranteed. For large group bookings (6 or more guests) and corporate events, we require at least 14 days advance notice for cancellations and refunds. We are unable to offer cancellations or refunds within 14 days, but if you contact us with at least 48 hours advance notice we will try to offer you an alternative time or date where possible, though no monetary refund can be given and an alternative date/time is not guaranteed, this is only at our discretion and according to availability.
  • Are discounts available?
We sometimes run special offers using discount codes. At the moment you cannot use the discount codes during the automatic online reservation/booking system. Instead, please email us with your code and details of the tour or activity you would like to join. We will then send you a payment link. Visually impaired runners may bring a guide-runner for free if required, though we sometimes have guides available who are trained guide runners. Please contact us to request this. From time to time we hold special events at reduced cost, usually in return for a charity donation, so do keep an eye on our website and on our social media pages for further information.
  • Are there any age restrictions?
Yes, you must be at least 18 years of age to participate in a running tour or running event. Exceptionally, older children (10 years +) may participate in our running tours and events (excluding the Beer Run) if their parents or guardians: 1) communicate with us prior to the tour that their children are used to physical activity involving running and will be able to complete the tour or event and 2) accompany and supervise them during the activity at all times.
  • Do I need to sign a disclaimer?
The running tours, events and other fitness activities sometimes take place near traffic and roads and involve physical activity, which can be hazardous. By participating you accept that you understand the possible risks involved and will not hold City Jogging Tours liable for any eventuality.
  • What will I do with my belongings when running?
Our guides carry a backpack and will be able to carry small items such as wallets and travel cards. However, guides are unable to carry larger items so you should come prepared for this - bringing your own backpack if necessary. Please note that our guides cannot be held responsible for any damage to your belongings. If you are on a short stop-over, we can advise on suitable locations to store your luggage while you are participating in a tour. Contact us before your tour date so we can advise.
  • What if I get thirsty while running?
You should carry any water you may need with you on the tour. If you need extra water, there are sometimes cafes or shops along the routes but the availability of water on the route is not guaranteed so you should come prepared just in case.
  • What if it is raining or snowing, will the tour still go ahead?"
Tours and events go ahead, rain or shine. However, in exceptional circumstances such as very severe weather (to be determined by your guide) you will be offered to return at a later time or to postpone for another day. This has only happened twice in 9 years! You should turn up at the agreed meeting point as usual where your guide will advise if it is necessary.
  • Does City Jogging Tours operate throughout the year?
Yes, City Jogging Tours operates all year round, although we do not usually operate on Public Holidays. If you are unsure, please email or call us in advance to check availability for your preferred date.
